The area now known as Barcelona was part of the Domesday manor of Trelawne.

1637 - reference to an Andrew Dyer having built at his own cost a dwelling-house and blacksmith's shop at Trelawne Cross.

c1740 - first mention of name 'Barcelona', possibly
in memory of a son of Bishop Sir Jonathan Trelawny, drowned whilst returning from Spain.

1740 - 1881 - Barcelona is the home of the Jago family, blacksmiths.
