There are many Tribute Bands operating at the moment - with varying degrees of success. Some are based on the idea that you just need to get together a collection of songs performed by someone or other and go on stage, with scant attention to the finer points of style and presentation. Others aim higher.
One such is ELTON GLAM & THE ROCKET BAND, four accomplished musicians who pay homage to the music of Elton John. They are made up of keyboard and vocal wizard Ian Hayward, Ken Thompson on guitar and vocals Andy Frost on bass and Andy Rigler on guitar and synthesizer.
The boys cover most of Elton's major hits between 1970 and the present day, and feature his earlier "on stage" image and antics, with some audience participation thrown in for good measure.

| ELTON JOHN has sold over one hundred million records worldwide and, with writing partner, Bernie Taupin has composed everything from pop classics to songs for films and musicals. Their score for Disney's "The Lion King" can currently be heard on the London West End stage, the production planned to continue into 2006. |

Andy's CV reads like a who's who of the music industry, including a 10 year stint touring with the Phil Hilborne Band.
Ken Thompson on Guitar and harmonies has played with numerous semi-pro bands, and also owns and runs his own recording studios.
Mark David plays the drums and percussion - he played for 5 years with one of the UK's most successful tribute bands - Fleetwood Bac. |
