WALKING IN THE WAKE
By Wood nee Hughes

Victoria was rooted to the spot……..but not for long, swinging her handbag over her shoulder she marched towards the glass doors, They open-end automatically allowing her to walk directly onto the inner terrace,. Shouting for her maid, she began to undress flinging her clothes on the bed…then "Yes Madam?" the maid swiftly arranged the clothes Victoria had taken from the wardrobe…The sound of the shower and the banging doors had alerted the maid well before Victoria had screamed for her…"Oh Dear!" she breathed. Madam was in a terrible mood, she decided to pull out the huge white towels arrange them quickly on the chair, and then leave the room……In no time at all Victoria was out of the shower tossing her long black hair over her left shoulder she began to blow dry, she looked at herself in the long mirror she was beautiful. Tanned with the African sun, hair flying with the heat of the dryer.."How could Shane do this to her? Dressing quickly it was then, simply amazing how fabulous she looked…With one last look at herself, Victoria walked out of the room across the lawns to her car ,this little car was hardly ever used as she was driven everywhere, at command.

In no time at all the little car was throbbing it’s way across the sand taking the short cut to the airport.
"I will catch him unaware "she muttered.
On and on she went ,until the Airport loomed into view…security waved her through the security men aware of the urgency of the matter, judging by the speed of the car.."There he is "screamed Victoria ,Who did he think he was standing next to a blonde sipping a glass of wine with several other visitors .Then it was a screech of brakes… Victoria stormed across the paving stones towards the group standing next to the swimming pool, then "MEETING?" she screamed…"This is for you Shane Thornbury" with that she threw herself at him causing him to fall into the swimming pool with a huge splash! Then turning without a second glance she walked back to the car, starting the engine, then turning the car she began speeding towards the exit………………………………........
Victoria had gone very quiet, what had she done?this was the end, she would pack and leave for England straight away… a feeling of utter hopelessness came over her……..
It was very quiet in the Villa the maid was keeping out of the way the gate boy had open-end the gate and was now standing on guard realising that he would soon be needed again…Victoria slowly packed her elegant suitcases …a feeling of hopelessness came upon her…when would they ever be able to get over this?
Victoria now ready to leave ,leaned over the rail of the terrace, taking in the beauty of it all…Well? She thought you had it all Victoria…Her Mothers voice was ringing in her head…"When one door closes another one opens!"…"Okay Mother" muttered Victoria slowly picking up her suitcase.
Suddenly the sound of a high powered car could be heard approaching…Victoria looked up as the gate boy flung open the huge gates……it was Shane………………..
The car came to a screeching halt. Shane Thornbury stepped out, he had driven the car himself.,"
" Victoria!" he yelled," where are you going?" he looked at the suitcases "Please don’t leave me I couldn’t live without you"then"Darling"he picked her up into his arms" I could never live without you" With that Victoria allowed herself to melt into his arms…"Shane Oh Shane, I love you I love you I love you"

With this and the knowledge of what they had said was very true the writer decided to leave them close to each other forever and ever and ever………………………………..........
